Welcome to the LightWare website. We design components for laser range finders (LRFs) and manufacture modules, kits and complete systems. Our speciality is time-of-flight technology and we offer open source electronics and software to help you design and build your own LRF. Use our contact information to ask us questions about lasers and we'll try to point you in the right direction. Just one thing, we don't directly support military projects. Instead, we would rather see our technology used to benefit humanity in a peaceful way.
Technology
The key to designing and building a laser range finder is understanding all the different technologies that go into it. LightWare recognizes how difficult it is to come to grips with this knowledge and offers open source designs and software to make things easier for you. Our library contains documents that explain both the simple and the more complicated aspects of how a laser range finder works.
Components
Components that go into laser range finders are often hard to find and can be expensive. LightWare designs its own parts so that you can get the benefit at a good price. Some of our components are made using specially designed tools which keeps the quality high and the price down. We also source specialized components from around the world and buy in bulk so that we can pass the discount on to you.
Kits
If you are just starting out with laser range finders then a complete kit along with circuit diagrams and detailed explanations is probably what you'll need. Later, some of the more complex modules may form part of your own design and when you have finally become an expert, you will be designing at component level.
